I don’t know about you, but I’m always wondering what iPhone apps my friends are using and how they use them. I figured I would share which ones I use regularly!
Instacart • “All I want is to be able to grocery shop without sitting in traffic.” – Me, a few days ago, on the topic of why I miss the suburbs. I’ve used instacart a handful of times now, and it’s such a lifesaver. You choose your store, your groceries, and you can even add things not listed on the site and specify which substitutions are and are not cool with you. I’ve found that adding plenty of notes gives me the best results, and then my groceries arrive at my door with a smiling face.
Waze • Fun fact: I never know where I am, and I frequently take wrong turns. My car has a GPS, but I find its voice and outdated map annoying (so it’s my backup). Waze lets me know (in a boy band voice) when there’s traffic ahead, if there’s a random object in the road, and even if there’s a speed trap in my route. I don’t do much reporting myself, though, because my phone stays on its dock and out of my hands while I’m driving.
Spotify • I love having all my favorite music (y’know, except T-Swift) in one place. I use the bluetooth in my car and my shower speaker to jam out daily.
SoundHound • For my “WHAT IS THIS SONG?” moments.
Afterlight • In my opinion, this is the best and easiest photo editing app. I use it almost every time just to fix the lighting on my photos for instagram.
Glow • This is a great app for cycle tracking, and its purpose is basically to help you get pregnant. It predicts your fertile window, helps you keep track of symptoms, meds, and a lot more. It even has a built-in community forum and crowdfunding to help you pay for infertility treatments. I believe they now also have a period tracker and a pregnancy tracker.
FitBit • I pretty much just use this now to challenge Tim. He always starts out ahead in the week, but then I clean the house on Thursday, and I end up winning every time.
iTVShows • I have to admit this isn’t my favorite app ever, but it’s the best I’ve found for my system. If SeriesGuide ever creates an iPhone app, I’ll be switching.
IMDb • I’m completely aware I could just use the mobile website, but the app is faster. There are far too many moments I’m trying to figure out what else that guy is from.
Netflix • Normally I wouldn’t have Netflix on my phone, but I use it for Chromecast on our TV in our bedroom. How else would I watch Melrose Place?
Snapchat • I’ve mentioned before, I love how bloggers are using snapchat these days. It’s like a behind the scenes look into their lives. You can follow me @beccadorr.
OneNote • I now use OneNote religiously. I use it to plan trips, make important lists, and it’s actually where I keep my tentative editorial calendar.
There are some apps that go without saying, like Gmail, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I do have notifications turned OFF for all of those apps, though. My life is so much better with fewer notifications.
