Just a few hours after we left our wedding reception, Tim and I headed to the airport. I had only slept around 6 hours in three days, so while waiting at the gate I kept telling Tim how nice it will be to sleep. It’s all I wanted. We boarded the plane to The Bahamas (George Town), and I spent the next two hours playing Candy Crush and daydreaming about a bed.
We were picked up from the airport, and headed to Sandals. Then we were given a tour of the resort, and I kind of never wanted to leave.
Then, we went back to our room and waited on our luggage. The second it arrived, I collapsed onto the bed, and I stayed there for… well, a long time. We woke up to eat some dinner and walked around the resort some before sleeping some more.
After I woke up from my coma, we were served breakfast on the patio. I’m not normally big on eating outside, but I felt like we had to take full advantage here. The only thing we had to watch out for were the birds… They were relentless. And loud. Afterwards, we headed to the main pool, where doing nothing felt amazing.
No, seriously, we kind of did nothing but eat, sleep, and drink on our honeymoon. And it was perfect. You know how people always talk about needing a vacation from their vacation? That’s because they do too much on their vacation. We were not able to text, or make phone calls, and the only (free) wifi at the resort was so terrible that you better try to send a work email, because it probably won’t go through.
The beach was totally amazing too. I don’t think I’d ever seen water that color in my life. There was some seaweed (which I actually heard another resort guest complain about — for serious? how dare the ocean), and the water wasn’t completely calm, so it wasn’t the best for jumping in. But I’m not a huge fan of sand in my swimsuit anyway. Oh, and the bar isn’t nearby. Luckily we had a cell phone to call our butler and he’d bring us drinks. But he brought us drinks when we didn’t ask for them, too. And he’d bring us drinks before I could finish my drink. We also got some coconut rum sent to our room! Because anyone who knows me knows that I love Malibu & pineapple. But you should know that Malibu is weaker than normal coconut rum.
So we spent the week going back and forth between the main pool, the “quiet pool” and the beach. We went to the fancy restaurants and the less fancy restaurants, and we dressed up all cute and stuff. And now I totally miss The Bahamas.
