Last year, Tim and I were sitting in bed browsing on our laptops and casually started up a conversation about taking a kid-free trip for our fifth anniversary. I wanted to go somewhere different, somewhere I’d never been before. New York? Nah. California? Meh. “What about Vegas?” Tim said with a smile. “Well, we could… OH MY GOSH, WE COULD SEE THE BACKSTREET BOYS.” And it was decided
Admittedly, we decided to go big on this trip. We hadn’t spent any real time alone (other than a few hours out on a date night) since Charlotte was born, and we hadn’t taken any big vacations since our honeymoon. This was also the longest flight that I’ve ever been on, and I hate flying. We splurged and flew first class. I do think having a little bit of extra room helped my anxiety, but my Apple watch still alerted me that my heart rate suddenly escalated.
We stayed at the Cosmopolitan in a corner suite (last minute upgrade). Our view was incredible. I am not the type of person to
We had a dinner reservation at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. and whoa, this place was out of my comfort zone. It was really cool, though, and the best part might have been the bear head cookie jar. Another night, we went to Carbone, which I was pleasantly surprised by.
We also saw O by Cirque Du Soleil, which was awesome. And of course, we spent a fair amount of time gambling. I think we ended up cutting even, or at least close to it.
And the best part of the trip (for me)… BACKSTREET BOYS. I hadn’t seen them since I was in eighth grade! They put on a great show, and Tim was a good sport.
At the end of the trip, I was so, so ready to get home to my kid. She had a great time with her
This trip was much needed and so worth it! I’m already planning our tenth anniversary trip in my head. Where should we go?
