This has been both the strangest and most “normal” feeling month in 2021 so far. It feels like we have one foot out the door, and being fully vaccinated has been a huge relief, and it’s nice to actually SEE people again!
While it technically happened at the end of April, my friend Ariel and I enjoyed a day at Chateau Elan to chill and drink wine. It was a wonderful girls’ day!
Mother’s Day came and went, and while this isn’t my favorite holiday, Tim and Charlotte gave me the best gift: alone time. I slept in, read a lot, and they brought me donuts. I could not ask for more.
Tim and I have enjoyed a few day dates, with lunch out (at a restaurant!) and browsing Target or Barnes & Noble. This has been my favorite part of our post-vaccination world, when he is still working from home and can make a little bit of time for me.
Charlotte finished her last year of preschool. When this school year started, I was full of anxiety and worry, and I am so thankful we made it through. Her school has been so good to us. I cannot believe she will be in kindergarten next year! We debated waiting a year (with her late July birthday), but it seems as though she is ready. I, on the other hand, am not.
Charlotte also started swim lessons for the first time! I had hoped to start her last year, but obviously that did not happen. I had major regret for not starting her pre-pandemic, so I am very happy I was able to get her signed up quickly! She also had her first week of summer camp, and I am so thankful it happened this year!
I got to go to a local book club — IN PERSON.
We ended the month and kicked off the summer by having some friends over for barbecue and s’mores in the firepit.
We have a busy summer ahead, but will also be making an effort to practice the lessons we learned last summer, and spend time at home, and slow down.
